Aromatherapy Pillow Spray – An Effective Solution to Troubled Sleeping

Most people, at different periods in their life, have trouble sleeping. If this sounds familiar, consider using an aromatherapy pillow spray to help you relax and send you into the land of sleep. A combination of essential oils and distilled water, an aromatherapy pillow spray is a completely natural alternative to sleeping tablets, and won’t leave you with that groggy feeling that often follows the next morning.

And unlike sleeping tablets, which can only be used for short periods, and may still have severe side effects, these all-natural products can be used every day without causing any health concerns. In addition, it can also double as a room or furniture spray, further increasing its usefulness.

Another benefit is that it can be tailored to help with other problems. If you’re suffering from a cold, try a combination of essential oils which are aimed at clearing congestion.

A pillow spray can be purchased from many online retailers, or from many health food shops. If you are buying from an online retailer, make sure to check the list of ingredients. Pure essential oils, and not fragrance oils, should be used in an aromatherapy pillow spray. Otherwise, they provide no health benefits.

If you are wary of buying a product online, consider making a pillow spray yourself. A simple base of distilled water (available from most health food shops) some essential oils, and a spritzer bottle are all that are needed.

The benefit of making your own solution is that you can tailor it exactly to your needs. Pour 120ml (4 oz.) of distilled water into the spritzer bottle (a glass bottle is best, as glass does not interfere with essential oils). Then add 8-10 drops of essential oil to the spritzer bottle. With those two simple steps, you’ve created your own pillow spray.

If you’re after a relaxing blend, try combining 4 drops of lavender oil, 4 drops of marjoram oil and 2 drops of chamomile oil into the distilled water. For a product that will help with cold or flu, try 4 drops of eucalyptus oil, 4 drops of lemon oil and 2 drops of pine oil.

There is no limit to the sort of blend you can add to a pillow spray. Consider investing in a book if you want an unlimited combination of recipes, or simply look on the internet. Just make sure that whether you make your own, or buy from a retailer, your aromatherapy pillow spray is made up from pure essential oils, and not cheap fragrance oils.
